Mumbai: Kinetic Engineering's entry into the executive motorcycles segment has been very successful says Ajinkya Firodia, general manager, marketing, Kinetic Engineering. According to company sources, while over 1000 units of the Velocity had been sold in Mumbai, its all-India sales had crossed 15,000 within 70 days.

Velocity, launched in October 2003, marks Kinetic's entry into the executive bikes segment - the largest category of two wheelers in the country, accounting for over 60 percent of the bikes market. The Velocity is powered by a powerful and refined, smooth 115cc four stroke engine that gives 8.5 bhp power. The bike gives a mileage of 92 kmpl (USTC).

To celebrate this quick start, the company organized a special delivery function in Mumbai ,where cricketing celebrity Kapil Dev handed over the key of Kinetic Velocity to Sunil Apte, the 1000th customer.

Speaking on the occasion Firodia said," I am happy that Mumbai has appreciated our Velocity as a special motorcycle. Its sales have exceeded our targets and expectations, even though we have introduced the motorcycle only in select states." The company, he said, was now concentrating on increasing production to bring down the delivery time to the customer.

The event was co-sponsored by Motul, one of the largest independent lubricants company in the world, headquartered in France with operations in more than 80 countries worldwide. The Motul brand, launched in 1853, is one of the oldest lubricant brands worldwide. In India, Motul lubricants are manufactured and marketed by Atlantic Lubricants & Specialties Pvt. Ltd.
