Kirloskar Brothers to build irrigation stations in Egypt

Asia's largest infrastructure pumping contractor, Kirloskar Brothers Ltd (KBL), has been mandated by the government of Egypt to build irrigation pumping stations in the country.
India's largest manufacturer and exporter of pumps, was selected by the Egyptian ministry of water resources and irrigation, Egypt to undertake the pimping station contracts, valued at $22 million.
KBL is one of the three global manufacturers who have manufactured and installed 200-kw canned motor pumps for nuclear application, and the first to introduce concrete volute pumps in India.
KBL will undertake construction of the new irrigation stations at Benban and Rozaikat on a turnkey basis for ministry of water resources's mechanical and electrical department.
KBL's record of being involved in the creation of the world's largest pumping scheme to irrigate over two million hectares of land and supply water to 4,620 towns and villages as in Gujarat part of the Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Scheme is said to have weighed in favour opf the selection of the company by the Egyptian authorities.
Incidentally KBL has also commissioned Andhra's Devadula pumping scheme in Warangal in Andhra Pradesh with the world's second highest head, supplying water to four chronically drought prone and backward districts.
