Hyderabad: JP Mobile, a leading provider of enterprise mobility software and the parent company of JP Mobile India, has announced support for Microsoft''s efforts to optimise Exchange Server 2003 for mobile access. Also JP Mobile''s flagship offering, SureWave Enterprise Server, will support Exchange 2003 when it is generally available.

Mobile workers are demanding secure and easy access to email, calendars, contacts, databases and enterprise applications anytime, anywhere. The proliferation of powerful and easy-to-use handheld devices has made this a reality for many organisations.

However, no one handheld platform can satisfy every user. In much the same way that mobile phones are personal devices, users are treating personal digital assistants (PDAs) and smart phones the same way. Organisations are finding it difficult to standardise on a single handheld platform.

"Enterprises have Pocket PC, Palm, RIM and Symbian devices accessing corporate data. With SureWave Enterprise Server supporting Exchange 2003, JP Mobile can provide an enterprise-class solution for securely accessing corporate data and, at the same time, give users a choice of which handheld device they use," says Ananth Rao, executive vice-president, JP Mobile.

Microsoft Exchange Server 2003, the next major release following Exchange 2000, boosts information worker productivity through ubiquitous access to business-critical messaging and calendaring information, as well as enhancements in security, manageability, availability and reliability to help further drive down total cost of ownership (TCO).

Combined with SureWave Enterprise Server''s centralised management capabilities, an organisation will also significantly lower the TCO of handheld devices while still giving users a choice in the handheld device they use.

"JP Mobile has made a commitment to providing customers with support for multiple handheld device platforms," says Chris Baker, group product manager, Microsoft. "Through the support of industry partners such as JP Mobile, our customers can extend the capabilities of the Exchange platform."
