Honda, which followed fellow rival Toyota in issuing a global recall of 6,46,000 cars globally on defective power window switches yesterday,  is recalling 8,532 City Sedans made in 2007.

Honda's Indian subsidiary, Honda Siel Cars India, today said it would be recalling 8,532 of the second-generation City Sedans to replace the power window switches that can cause fire under certain conditions.

Yesterday, the Tokyo-based carmaker issued a global recall of 646,000 cars of its Jazz model, also known as Fit in some countries that were manufactured in Japan, China, Brazil, Thailand, Malaysia and India. (See: Now Honda issues global recall of three models)

Although Honda Siel Cars has not received a single complaint on this defect, it is nevertheless calling the City Sedans to condcut checks on the defective part.

If a defect is detected, Honda Siel said that it would make the necessary replacement at no cost to the customer, which would be covered under the part replacement.

Honda Siel said that the third-generation City and Jazz models currently sold in the country do not carry the same switch, hence they will not be affected.
