GAIL CMD receives SCOPE excellence award; trophies for SAIL, MDNL

Mumbai: Proshanto Banerjee, chairman and managing director, Gas Authority of India Ltd (GAIL) has bagged the SCOPE (Standing Conference of Public Enterprises) individual excellence award.

The award to Banerjee for the year 2004-05 recognises his contribution to public sector management and carries a gold plaque and a cash purse of Rs 1,00,000, a SCOPE statement said.

SAIL and Mishra Dhaatu Nigam Ltd (MDNL) secured the gold and silver trophies, respectively. In the institutional category, SAIL won the gold, while Mishra Dhaatu Nigam won the silver trophy in Special Institutional (turnaround) category.

The jury led by Justice PN Bhagwati had Arjun Sengupta, Abid Hussain, Hiten Bhaya and Moosa Raza as its members.
