Facebook Inc is looking to line up some of YouTube's biggest content producers to distribute their videos on the social network, the Wall Street Journal said yesterday, citing people familiar with the matter.

The Journal said the social network seemed to be taking on Google Inc's video site by trying to lure its biggest content producers to the social network.

Popular content from Walt Disney Co's Maker Studios and Collective Digital Studio already featured on Facebook via the site's news feed and on individual creator's pages, according to the report.

The social network features a dedicated page for one of YouTube's viral series "The Annoying Orange" by Collective.

A Facebook spokeswoman told the Journal that its partnerships team regularly had discussions with content creators about how to best utilise all of Facebook's offerings, video included.
