Two killed in gas leak at Dr Reddy’s Laboratories in Hyderabad

Two workers of the drug firm Dr Reddy's Laboratories, were killed while two others fell unconscious in an accidental gas like at the company's manufacturing plat at Bollaram on the outskirts of Hyderabad.

The police said that only after examination by medical experts will it be possible to identify the chemical which had leaked. They added that further details of the accident were awaited.

In a statement the company said employee and a contract staff had died in the accident.

"The authorities are currently investigating the unfortunate deaths of an employee and a contract staff working at our manufacturing facility in Bollaram, Hyderabad," it said.

"No other persons were injured. We will advise on further details once the investigations are complete," the company's statement added.

The company produces active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) at its Bollaram manufacturing facility.
