Creative Infotech Service starts Yapping

Chennai: Even as several domestic players are readying to offer voice-over Internet protocol (VOIP), or Internet telephony, the city-based Creative Infotech Service has launched Yap (your alternate phone) Internet telephony hardware. Creative Infotech is one of the five Indian resellers for the US-based Net2Phone Inc.
Says M Jalal, India in-charge, C2C Telecom, Singapore, one of the resellers and distributors for Net2Phone: “The Indian company will be selling six products: three each for individual and commercial segments.“
While Yap headset, Yap phone (resembling a remote, but wired to the PC) and Yap Jack (resembles a dial-up modem to which a normal telephone is attached to make calls) are targeted at residential users, Yap IP Phone (looks like a normal telephone but with a DSL/cable modem compatible), Max4 and Max 8 Plus (enables multiple users) equipment are targeted at business establishments.
Detailing how a person gets connected to the Net to make calls, Jalal says a hardware buyer should also buy from Net2Phone's call entitlement (Yap Time) and sign with the VOIP service provider. “We are working out the hardware prices in consultation with other channel partners.“
The company is in the process of appointing distributors and will soon freeze the equipment prices, says Creative Infotech Service partner S V Sunil Kumar. “The call charges work out very cheap through the Net2Phone service.“
