New CNN application allows richer mobile news content

Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 handsets allow users to stay ahead of CNN's top stories and world headlines round the clock, CNN said in a media statement.

Personalisation of the panel application allows users the flexibility to customise information via the touch screen interface of their phone.

The customisation of the panels application on the Xperia X1 allows users to set up choice of two news categories and a 5-day weather forecast of their preferred city. 

Sony Ericsson has signed a non-exclusive agreement with CNN International's parent company, Turner Broadcasting System Inc., for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, Russia and the whole of Asia Pacific region excluding Japan.

''This offering gives users a hands-on, media-rich browsing experience.  With Sony Ericsson's Xperia X1, consumption of news is now brought up to a whole new level as consumers demand more from how content is delivered,'' said Ringo Chan, vice president of Wireless and interactive content, development and distribution, Turner Asia Pacific.
