Mumbai:
Nawshir Mirza has joined the board of Blue Star as an
independent director.
Blue
Star is a leader in central air-conditioning and commercial
refrigeration, and offers a wide range of cooling solutions
to a large number of corporate and commercial customers.
Another significant area of business interest to Blue
Star is import distribution and service of professional
electronic equipment and systems.
Mirza,
53, is a graduate in commerce and a fellow of the Institute
of Chartered Accountants of India. He was with Ernst
& Young and its predecessor firm, Arthur Young during
the period 1967 to April 2003.
His
career achievements include becoming the youngest partner
in the Indian firm, holding the position of national
director of Audit and Accounting Services, and managing
partner at Western India.
Mirza
has also held responsible positions in various professional
and trade associations like Indo-American Chamber of
Commerce, Institute of Internal Auditors and the Bombay
Chamber of Commerce & Industry. He is actively involved
in philanthropic organisations including Childline and
Red Cross.
