BSNL cuts fixed-line STD tariffs to Re 1 nationwide

Mumbai: Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL), the state-run telecom major, has slashed fixed-line tariffs across the country by bringing subscribers under their  One India plan, enabling them to make STD calls anywhere in the country at Re 1 per minute and local calls at the rate of Re 1 per three minutes.

The reduction in fixed-line tariffs would benefit over 11.6 million subscribers.

BSNL also reduced monthly rentals from Rs 225 to Rs 180 besides doubling the free calls to 50 a month.

The new tariffs are effective November 1, AK Sinha, chairman and managing director of BSNL, said.
