Britannia Q3 net profit vaults 45 per cent to Rs54.1 crore

Britannia Industries Ltd (BIL) has reported a net profit of Rs54.1 crore for fiscal third quarter ended 31 December 2011 and a 15.4 per cent growth in sales to Rs1,247.4 crore during the quarter.

For the first nine months of the financial year (April-December 2011-12) the company reported net profit of Rs133.7 crore, a 43.5 per cent increase year-on-year.

Revenues for the April-December period rose 18.2 per cent to Rs3,647.8 crore while consolidated sales grew 19.1 per cent to Rs4,012.1 crore during the period.

"This quarter again we have generated profitable growth, driven by a healthy blend of volume, mix, price and operational efficiencies. There is a 130 basis points improvement in profit from operations and our focus continues to be on commercialising consumption opportunities both in the bakery and dairy businesses,'' Vinita Bali, managing director of the company, said.

During the quarter, Britannia launched a range of products, including NutriChoice Multigrain Thins, NutriChoice Multigrain Roasty and 50-50 Snackuits, which provide healthy snacking options, the company said.
