BHEL bags Rs 2,525 cr power project at Jharkhand

Public sector power equipment manufacturer BHEL will set up a 1,080 MW thermal power plant of 4x270 MW capacity in Jharkhand for Nagpur-based infrastructure projects developer Abhijeet Infra.

BHEL has introduced new rating thermal sets of 270 MW, 525 MW and 600 MW, in addition to 250 MW and 500 MW thermal to meet emerging customer demand.

With this order, BHEL has 22 orders for 270 MW sets.

In a deal valued at Rs2,525 crore BHEL will supply and install the main plant package for Abhijeet Infra Ltd's coal-based power plant in Ranchi, Jharkhand.

BHEL will also be responsible for supplying and installing the main plant package for Phase-I (2x270 MW) and Phase-II (2x270 MW) of the thermal power project.

With the current contract, BHEL has received an order book position for 14,689 MW for independent power producers, out of total orders of 16,489 MW for power plant equipment, or nearly 90 per cent of the total orders booked by the company's power sector.

BHEL has boosted its production capacity to deliver power equipment to generate 15,000 MW worth of power per annum. It is now further raising capacity to produce equipment to generate 20,000 MW worth of power per annum.
