Explosion sparks fire at Haridwar BHEL plant

A major fire broke out at Bharat Heavy Electricals plant at Haridwar today, following an explosion in a blast furnace, which left at least 10 people injured.

Six fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the blaze. Nearly 10 of the workers received burn injuries. The injured have been taken to a hospital in Haridwar.

BHEL, which is the country's largest power equipment manufacturer, comes under the heavy industries ministry.
