Apple yesterday unveiled the its new iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. The specs almost seem to mirror the leaked specifications that had been rumoured earlier.

iPhone 6sThe iPhone maker also announced the iPad Pro and Apple TV, while making eight major announcements.

Pre-orders for the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus will open across 130 countries starting 13 September and sale of the devices are due to start from 25 September.

Made from 7000 series aircraft-grade aluminium, Apple has ensured that the devices are sturdy and do not bend. The iPhone 6S comes with a 4.7-inch 1334 x 750 pixel Retina Display while the iPhone 6S Plus features a 5.5-inch 1920 x 1080 pixel Retina display.

The phones come in silver, gold, space gray and rose gold, and feature a 3D touch display, the next-gen Force Touch. A 12MP iSight camera and new photography called Live Photos is here. The device will be powered by a new A9 processor.

Apple reworked the manner in which users interacted with the touchscreen by adding in the force dimension to the touch screen. This was a force touch technology variant that already existed on the Apple Watch.

The 3D Touch, as the new feature is called allows users to reduce the number of clicks required to get work done, by using force touch along with swiping gestures.

Apple claims, 3D Touch would be able to differentiate between types of touches and taps in preloaded apps and also on the homescreen. The new technology added new functionalities to iPhones; for instance, by applying a little extra pressure on the screen users may preview a photo in one app and open a file in another.

The biggest upgrade to the iPhone 6S, and iPhone 6S Plus was in the cameras. After being stuck with an 8MP sensor since iPhone 4S, the new iPhones feature 12MP cameras capable of taking panorama pictures going up to 63MP. The rear camera also had 4K recording to capture high-resolution videos, a feature that was made available on iPhones last year.
