William S Pinckney, the chairman and chief executive of direct-selling firm Amway India, has been arrested for the second time within a year; this time by the Andhra Pradesh Police in connection with a complaint against the company over ''unethical'' circulation of money through Amway's operations.

Kurnool Superintendent of Police Raghurami Reddy said Pinckney was apprehended in Gurgoan on Sunday and brought to Kurnool on a warrant.

A year ago, Kerala Police arrested Pinckney and two company directors on charges of financial irregularities (See: Amway India chairman, 2 directors held for cheating).

The Kurnool police on Monday produced Pinckney before a magistrate as well as the local media. The arrest has been made on the basis of a case filed by an advocate towards the end of 2013 alleging unethical practices followed in money circulation and product selling and under pertinent laws said.

Amway is a global direct selling firm with pan-India operations, and deals in thousands of consumer products. The company and its CEO have been at the receiving end of the law in Andhra Pradesh for quite some time. The CEO has earlier been taken into custody and the company's offices have been raided by the police.
