Akai Mobiles opens distribution channel in Andhra Pradesh

Japanese consumer electronics brand, Akai today said that PVR Enterprises will act as its exclusive distribution partner for Akai Mobiles in Andhra Pradesh.

With the opening of the distribution channel, Akai Mobiles plan to tap 100 modern trade retail outlets across Andhra Pradesh, and is eyeing a turnover of 5crore in next 12 months.

''The distribution channel that Akai has inaugurated is a part of its pan India strategy to strengthen their presence at the retail level,'' said Deepak Kabu, general manager, national sales, Akai Mobiles.

PVR Enterprises will house the entire range of mobiles from Akai, which includes the complete series of dual SIM mobiles, with an initial line up of 10 models.

The company said that it is in process of tie ups with many large format retail chains at national level and regional level with Kabu adding that ''we plan to expand our reach by opening similar distribution channels across other markets in India for modern trade.''

Akai Mobiles are currently sold through 15,000 retail outlets in the country. The company plans to ramp up the number of retail outlets to 20,000 by end December, 2010.
