Infosys reports Rs2,369 crore Q3 net; stock vaults nearly 17 per cent

Infosys Technologies has reported a better-than-expected net profit (after tax) of Rs2,369 crore for the quarter ended 31 December 2012, almost unchanged from the previous quarter ended 30 September 2012. Infosys had reported a net profit of Rs2,372 crore for the comparable quarter of the previous year.

Earnings per share (EPS) for the quarter stood at Rs41.47 against Rs41.46 for the quarter ended 30 September 2012.

Consolidated revenues were Rs10,424 crore for the quarter ended 31 December 2012, up 12.1 per cent year-on-year and 5.7 per cent above the previous quarter. Revenues included that of acquired Swiss firm Lodestone.

Revenues excluding Lodestone's were Rs10,210 crore, up 9.8 per cent year-on-year and above 3.6 per cent from the previous quarter.

Consolidated revenues stood at Rs9,298 crore in the year-ago quarter.

In dollar terms, profit dipped 5.2 per cent to $434 million during the quarter although revenues were up 5.8 per cent at $1,911 million.
