India Post ties up with Air India for ‘Logistics Post Air Service’

India Post today announced the launch of `Logistics Post Air Service' in association with Air India on select sectors linking 15 airports

The facility will be available at Agartala, Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Nagpur, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Imphal, Guwahati, Patna, Lucknow and Thiruvananthapuram airports.

Under the new service, India Post will effect delivery of consignment deposited at the postal facility available at the airport premises at Logistics Post Air Booking Centre, Palam TMO, New Delhi to the customer at the post office facility at the destination airport.

It would also facilitate city-to-city delivery of consignments on payment of additional charges (Rs50 per consignment @ Rs1 kg). Under this, the consignment will be booked at Logistics Post Air Booking Centre, RMS Bhawan, Delhi - 110006 and the delivery will be effected at the Logistics Post Delivery Centres in the destination city.

Under a third category `door-to-door' delivery of consignments will be picked up from the premises and delivered to the destination on payment of a minimum additional charge of Rs100 per consignment of Rs2 per kg.

Charges will be as per volumetric weight rates to be followed in accordance with IATA standards (6,000 cubic cm = 1 kg for the purpose). There will be four types of rates for Logistics Post Air Service viz:

* Standard rate    -   for consignment up to 49 kg;
* Bulk Rate (BA)  -   for 50 kg to 99 kg;
* Bulk Rate (BB)  -   for 100 kg to 249 kg;
* Bulk Rate (BC)  -   for 250 kgs and above.
