Third set of C’wealth Games stamps issued

The Indian postal department today issued a third set of stamps to commemorate the XIX Commonwealth Games at the CWG Village Post Office. The games opened in Delhi on Sunday.
The third set of stamps highlight tennis, archery, hockey and athletics. It was released by Rameshwari Handa, chief postmaster general, Delhi circle. Lt Gen (Retd) Ashok Kapur, ADG (Games Village) and other senior officers of India Post were also present at the release of stamps.
The Indian postal department has already issued two sets of stamps, one set on the Queen's baton telay and the second on the Jawaharlal Nehru and Talkatora stadiums.
Such commemorative stamps are printed in limited quantities. For this issue, only 4 lakh stamps have been printed.
The Commonwealth games 2010 are being held in Delhi, from 3-14 October, the largest multi-sport event conducted to date in Delhi and India, which has previously hosted the Asian Games in 1951 and 1982.
