Chevrolet launches LPG version of Beat
11 Feb 2011
General Motors India has launched the LPG version of its compact car Chevrolet Beat.
The LPG variant is available in two versions, the LS and LT and uses a new locally developed, Smartech engine. Beat comes with advanced multipoint sequential LPG injection technology type kit that provides no jerks and backfires or power loss, the company said.
The Beat can operate in two modes, the petrol and LPG mode, which can be chosen through a sensor-based button. The car automatically shifts back to petrol when the LPG gets depleted.
In the LPG mode, Beat generates a power of 80.04 PS at 6400 rpm and torque of 103.8 Nm at 4400 rpm and gives a mileage of 13.29km/l. It has a range of 349 kilometre on LPG alone and 1,000 kilometre on LPG and gasoline combined.
Beat LPG's on-road price is expected to be around Rs4.7 lakh in Delhi. Both the LPG variants come with a similar three year warranty as the Beat petrol version.
Chevrolet's Beat was first launched in January 2010 as the next offering from the 300 series after the Cruze.
