The South Wales Evening Post yesterday reported that it is teaming with hundreds of newspapers across the UK to deliver a multi-million pound boost to promising young businesses.

According to research, Britain's youngest businesses were positive about prospects for growth even as the economy continues to face difficult times, however they still needed  advice and support, the newspaper said.

The Local Business Accelerators (LBA) campaign has seen over 500 newspapers around the country team up to offer free advertising and mentoring.

One- to five-year old businesses can apply for the chance to win a free advertising campaign in the newspaper covering the area they operate in as also for mentoring support from business leaders.

The newspaper added that most promising businesses would go on to the national stage of the competition and  win a year's mentoring and a local advertising campaign devised by a top London creative ad agency.

According to the paper, LBA national ambassador  Deborah Meaden, who would offer mentoring to the overall winner said, with last year's LBA having demonstrated the unique power of local and regional press to provide a meaningful boost to promising young businesses, she was delighted to be supporting the initiative once again.
