FM radio player, Radio Mirchi's mobile initiative Mirchi Mobile has won the 'Best new media initiative award' at the India Radio Forum Awards 2011.

Launched last year in a bid to increase the brand presence and subscriber base of Radio Mirchi, the product enables people to listen in to songs in their mother tongue despite being in a different city.

Rahul Balyan, head, digital initiatives, said, ''It feels great to get this recognition for 'Mirchi Mobile', which is our brand extension in the VAS space.''

Mirchi Mobile, powered by Spice Digital, was initially launched on Airtel and is now available across multiple telecom operators.

Radio Mirchi operates FM radio stations in 32 cities and was first launched in Indore in October 2001.
