NYTimes.com, the online edition of New York Times,  has announced the launch of Times Wire, offering readers a running stream of updates from the Times newsroom, enabling them to view the news in a timeline format.

Times says its an effort on its part to give readers more ways to access news online.

Times Wire is a live, reverse chronological feed of New York Times articles and blog posts as they are published online. It updates every minute with real time headlines from across NYTimes.com.

The page also features a grid of photos along the right side linking to news and opinion items.
Visitors to the page can click on one of three tabs - one showing all news updates, another offers a customisable list and a third with only business and technology news.

Denise Warren, senior vice president for NYTimes.com, said in a statement, ''Now readers can view the latest news as it breaks around the clock and have the option to create a more personalized news experience.''

Warren added that ''advertisers see this as a new and useful vehicle to reach their key audiences.''
