Company profile:
Mercedes-Benz India Ltd (MBIL) was set up as a joint venture between DaimlerChrysler (DCAG) and Tata Engineering in 1995 for producing and selling Mercedes-Benz passenger cars for the Indian market.

The company, a 100-per cent subsidiary of Daimler Chrysler in India, has been lately renamed as DaimlerChrysler India Pvt Ltd (DCIL) The name-change has been done in keeping with the corporate philosophy of DaimlerChrysler AG worldwide since the company is now wholly-owned.

DCIL is one of the first auto joint ventures set up in India and has a long-term commitment to the Indian market. It has the full support of its parent company for its future plans in India. The company is aware of the future potential of Indian automobile market and also the tremendous economic power this country can generate.

An important priority for DaimlerChrysler was to have a world-class production facility in India that produces quality cars, comparable to those produced anywhere else in the world. The passenger cars manufactured in its factory under the technical and organisational standards are the same as those prevailing in all DaimlerChrysler plants in Germany.
