Bentley’s Continental GT zooms into India at Rs1.9cr

Adding to the slew of ultra-luxury cars being launched in India, British carmaker Bentley today introduced its Continental GT luxury sedan in India.
Priced at Rs1.9 crore (Delhi), the Continental GT is powered by a 5,998cc twin-turbocharged W12 engine producing 552 bhp at 6,100 rpm and torque of 650 nm at 1,600-6,100 rpm. Torsen-based permanent four-wheel drive is a standard feature.
The car boasts an acceleration of 0 to 100kph in under 5 seconds, and achieves a top speed of 318 kph.
The Crewe (UK)-based company expects to sell about 45 units in India in this year. Globally, it is targeting sales of 7,000 units in 2011.
"India is growing fast in the luxury automobile space. We hope to achieve a sales figure of 100 units here from our entire range by next year," Bentley regional director (India) Chris Buxton told reporters at the launch in New Delhi.
Buxton said the Indian super-luxury car market is estimated to be around 600-700 units this year, and is growing at around 30 per cent every year.
"Bentley's sales in India are growing at around 45 per cent a year," he added.
