01 Aug 2008
Lotus has unveiled the Evora - its first new car in 13 years at the 2008 British International Motor Show in London. The spacious car is powered by a 3.6 litre V6 engine.
The new mid-sized 2+2 sports car had been kept a closely-guarded secret pre-launch, including the name. It had only been known as 'Project Eagle.'
Lotus claims that the Evora combines lightweight aluminium chasis with the brand's legendary performance and handling characteristics. The new cars will be fitted with Bosch anti-lock brakes, plus electronic traction and stability controls.
Lotus says the Evora will run from zero to 60 mph in less than 5 seconds, with a top speed of 160 mph.
The interiors boasts a luxury cabin with leather upholstery, touchscreen satellite navigation, and Bluetooth and iPod connectivity.
The company will produce only 2,000 cars a year, which is expected to go on sale in the UK in 2009.
