Jaguar XF sedan wins What Diesel car of the year 2008

The Jaguar XF sedan has won the UK-based diesel auto journal What Diesel's 'car of the year 2008' crown beating 10 other rivals in the race for the top slot.
The Jaguar, owned till recently by Ford Motor's Premier Automotive Group, has now been acquired by Tata Motors. (See: Tata Motors confirms Jaguar, Land Rover deal with Ford for $2.3 billion)
The voting panel comprising veteran auto journalists and technology experts selected 10 diesel powered vehicles as winners in various categories for the What Diesel car of the year awards.Ian Robertson, editor, What Diesel announced the list of winners.
What Diesel 2008 Winners:
- Best small car: Fiat 500
- Best medium family car: Nissan Qashqai
- Best large family car: Ford Mondeo
- Best executive car: Jaguar XF
- Best estate car: Kia Cee'd SW
- Best MPV: Citroën C4 Grand Picasso
- Best 4x4: Land Rover Freelander 2
- Best pick-up: Nissan Navara
- Best coupé: Audi A5
- Best convertible: Volkswagen Eos
The green award for the best eco-friendly car was awarded to the French car Citroën and the Jaguar XF won the most prestigious What Car of the year award.
What Diesel magazine, previously known as Diesel Car, is in its twentieth year in 2008. The magazine, headed by the newly recruited editor Ian Robertson, has a team of writers who focus on delivering the latest news and views on the new car diesel market today.
