2009 Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 will premiere at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show. The face-lifted Lamborghini that replaces the current Gallardo has updated mechanical and design features along with a powerful V10 engine. The vehicle will be up for sale this spring.

The LP stands for Longitudinale Posteriore, the position of the engine while 560 is the horsepower count. This four-wheel drive machine has aggressively styled front and rear ends that give the vehicle a distinguished look.

Despite the larger engine, the new Gallardo has shed approximately 20 kg or 44 lbs of excess weight weight, compared to its predecessor. This helps improve the power-weight ratio to 2.5 kg per hp, enhancing performance.

The 2009 edition accelerates from 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.7 sec; its speed at 11.8 sec is 200 km/h (124 mph) while its top speed lies at 325 km/h or 202 mph. The transmission choices are a six-speed manual or a six-speed E-gear automated manual.

The new E-gear changes gears by way of a rotational selector instead of a fore / aft movement.

The fuel consumption and emission of carbon dioxide has reduced by 18 per cent.

For the interiors, the 2009 Gallardo has new gauges with a font similar to that used in the Murciélago.
