Aviation sector can create 2 million jobs, says Praful Patel

Union Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel said recently that the civil aviation industry could create about 2 million jobs in the next five years. "There is heavy demand for pilots and technicians," said Patel, while inaugurating an annual inter-college technology festival at the IIT campus.

Aviation, just like IT, would generate a lot of job opportunities and it would lead to economic progress, Patel said, adding that this about come through a number of technical and non-technical services.

He said that this would be an opportunity for educated youth to demonstrate their skills: "About  550 million Indians are in the 20 to 25 year age group and it is a challenge for us to provide them with job opportunities," he added.
