Tiruchirappalli: Sri Lankan budget carrier, Mihin Lanka, has launched a daily service on the Colombo-Tiruchirappalli-Colombo sector. The flight would leave Colombo at 6 am and arrive at Tiruchi by 7 am, with the return flight departing Tiruchi at 7.45 am and arriving at Colombo at 8.45 am, the airline said.

In an innovative move, Mihin Lanka, has also announced a baggage limit of 100 kg, instead of the usual 40-50 kg, in order to target small traders doing business in the island nation.

The airline said that it would operate an Airbus A-320 on the route, and has also promised better connectivity to Bangkok, Dubai and Maldives from Colombo.

With the start of the service, Mihin becomes the fourth budget airline, after Air India Express, Air Deccan and Kingfisher, to operate from Tiruchi.
