Govt to replace DGCA with Civil Aviation Authority

New Delhi: The ministry of civil aviation has informed the upper house of parliament that it proposes to set up a Civil Aviation Authority to replace the existing Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

The information was conveyed through a written reply in the Rajya Sabha by civil aviation minister Vayalar Ravi.

He said apart from regulatory safety oversight functions of the DGCA, the proposed authority will have additional functions relating to economic, consumer protection and environmental regulations.
