New Delhi: In a move aimed at bolstering security apparatus at the country's major airports the Government has sanctioned more than 250 additional CISF personnel for these facilities. Additional deployment has also been approved for other sensitive locations considering the existing security scenario.
The airports which will see an increased security presence are Delhi, Mumbai and Hyderabad.
While 60 additional CISF personnel have been sanctioned for the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) in Delhi, an additional force of 100 personnel has been approved for the Mumbai International Airport.
The Hyderabad airport will have 75 additional paramilitary forces.
Additional deployment of paramilitary personnel will also be made at Red Fort (23 personnel), "Samadhi Sthals" in Delhi (55) and Rajiv Gandhi Ninaivgam, Sriperumbudur, in Tamil Nadu (18).
"The additional CISF posts have been created and sanctioned after a security audit of these airports. The personnel will enhance the strength of the armed quick reaction teams (QRT) deployed for immediate action in case of a threat at airports," said a CISF officer.
