26 Feb 2013
All Nippon Airlines (ANA), has cancelled all Boeing 787 flights until at least till the end of May. The carrier was the first to use the plane on a commercial route.
The announcement would see 1,700 flights called off, and comes five weeks following international regulators grounding all Dreamliner services to allow safety checks to be carried out on the aircraft's lithium batteries.
The move comes in the wake of a series of incidents, and would hit 3,600 ANA flights. The Japanese airline counts 17 of the 50 Dreamliners built by Boeing in its fleet.
Similar announcements have been made by other airlines in respect of flights using the aircraft.
United Airlines, last week cancelled all its Dreamliner flights until 5 June apart from Denver-Tokyo route provisionally scheduled to open on 12 May.
According to Poland's national airline LOT, it would not use the 787 before October and is seeking compensation from Boeing.
