New Delhi: Still battling a crippling nine day long strike by pilots which has paralysed its domestic operations, Air India has now issued a tender for the lease of 16 Airbus 320 aircraft for a period of five years in a bid to boost capacity.

The tender invites aircraft manufacturers, airlines and lessors to supply aircraft from August this year in a phased manner.

The planes would be leased for a period of five years and the lease could be extended for another two years. The aircraft must be new and not manufactured before January last year.
