Frankfurt: German flag carrier Lufthansa may be eyeing New Delhi as a possible destination for A-380 super jumbo flights for next year's winter schedule, by which time it's expected that Delhi's international airport would have commissioned a terminal capable of handling these giant aircraft.

It is being given to understand that German aviation authorities may now have sought formal clearance for these operations from the Indian civil administration.

The German carrier has as many as 15 super jumbos on order and expects to take delivery of three of these next year.

Lufthansa officials point out that Delhi is a large market and the super jumbo would be an ideal aircraft to operate on such a route.
