Indian airlines carry 3.97 million domestic passengers in October

Scheduled airlines in India carried a total of 3.97 million domestic passengers in October 2009 against 3.51 million passengers carried in the previous month (September 2009) - a sequential rise of over 13 per cent.
Of the 3.97 million passengers, Air India (domestic) carried 7.40 lakh, Jet Airways 7.85 lakh, Jet Lite 3.14 lakh, Kingfisher 8.23 lakh, Spice Jet 4.91 lakh, Paramount 0.61 lakh, Go Air 2.15 lakh and IndiGo 5.40 lakh.
The percentage share of the carriers in October 2009 was: Air India (domestic) 18.6 per cent, Jet Airways - 19.8 per cent, Jet Lite - 7.9 per cent, Kingfisher -20.7 per cent, Spice Jet - 12.4 per cent, Paramount - 1.5 per cent, Go Air - 5.4 per cent and IndiGo - 13.6 per cent.
The seat capacity utilisation rate of domestic airlines in October 2009 was: Air India (domestic) - 72.8 per cent, Jet Airways - 75.7 per cent, JetLite - 77.9 per cent, Kingfisher Airlines - 73.5 per cent, Spice Jet - 74.7 per cent, Paramount Airways - 86.2 per cent, Go Air - 79.9 per cent and IndiGo - 76.6 per cent.
An analysis of traffic data submitted by various domestic airlines showed that seat capacity utilisation in October 2009 has increased vis-à-vis September 2009, primarily due to onset of tourist season.
Passengers carried by domestic airlines rose 3.32 per cent to 36 million in the January-October 2009 period against 34.9 million in the corresponding period of 2008.
