Mumbai: Merged carriers, Kingfisher Airlines and Air Deccan, announced Friday that they had  increased their minimum fares with immediate effect in response to the hike in aviation turbine fuel costs.

Kingfisher's base fare would now be Rs1,000 for a distance of up to 750 km. For a distance between 751 km and 1,000 km, the carrier said its base fare would be Rs2,250. For a distance over 1,001 km, base fares would be Rs3,000.

As for Deccan, for distances below 750 km, the base fare would now be Rs500, while for distances between 751 km and 1,000 km, the base fare would be Rs1,500.

For distances over 1,001 km, the base fare will be Rs2,000.

"The existing base fares have been revised upwards and the figures mentioned do not indicate the quantum of increase in the fares," the company said.

The actual impact on air travellers is yet to be calculated.
