Iran to soon reveal domestically manufactured plane

The Islamic Republic of Iran will unveil its first domestically manufactured passenger plane in the next couple of months, according to a senior Iranian aviation official.
Iranian defence ministry's, aviation industries organization's managing director, Manouchehr Manteqi, told the Mehr news agency on Friday that the first totally Iranian plane, with a capacity of 52 passengers, will be unveiled in the Iranian calendar month of Mehr (September 23-October 22).
Manouchehr Manteqi added that the IrAn-140 or Iran-140 airplane has so far done around 1,100 hours of flight and has transferred 20,000 passengers over the past six months.
He said that all operations have been carried out successfully.
The Iran-140 aircraft was introduced by Iran in 2003. Five domestically-manufactured Iran-140 planes were completed in October 2008 to increase the air force's transportation capacity and upgrade marine surveillance capabilities.
The aircraft can be operated from unprepared runways within wide range of altitudes, airfields and climatic conditions, in standard and adverse weather conditions, day and night.
