Embraer's order backlog at record $20.3 billion

Jose Dos Campos, Brazil: Embraer said its firm order backlog for the commercial aviation, executive aviation and defence and government segments increased by $1.5 billion during the first quarter of 2008, reaching a record total of $20.3 billion.

It also said it had delivered 45 aircraft during the first quarter, with 38 jets in the commercial airlines segment and seven in the executive aviation segment.

Embraer also confirmed it will deliver between 195 and 200 jets this year, along with 10 to 15 Phenom 100 executive jets.

It said it had signed a contract for the sale of 36 Embraer 195 jets with the new Brazilian airline, launched by businessman David Neeleman.

Embraer also said that the Phenom family continued to register record sales with more than 750 firm orders in hand. It also said that the certification programme for the Phenom 100 was on schedule.
