Gate Gourmet buys airline services group; will move into ground handling

In-flight catering firm Gate Gourmet has announced that it has acquired a UK-based group that owns the Fernley and International Aviation Services (IAS) brands, to move into airline ground handling and support.

Other brands owned by the group include Specialist Airport Services, European Airport Services and Airfield Services. The company gave no financial details.

The acquired companies offer a range of services from aircraft cabin cleaning to baggage screening and unaccompanied minor assistance.

These will be re-named Gate Aviation Services, and will be led by Gary Morby, who was the owner of the acquired group.
