Oman Air first foreign airline to start services to Jaipur; operations begin 1 June

Muscat: Oman Air, national flag carrier of Oman, will connect with its eighth destination in India from June 1, 2007. It will operate four direct flights every week, connecting Muscat with Jaipur, India's 'Pink City,' every Saturday, Monday, Wednesday and Friday and Saturday.

Chief executive officer of Oman Air, Ziad bin Karim Al Haremi, said: "India is a very important destination and the Indian travel market is one of the fastest growing in the world, furthermore an important destination witnessing a blooming economic growth and attracting overwhelming numbers of tourists. Ensuring its significant roll to connect Muscat with major cities worldwide, as well as to strengthen the deep rooted relationship between the two friendly nations, Oman Air has launched its eighth destination, Jaipur in the Indian subcontinent".

According to Al Haremi, Oman Air was able to establish a distinctive status in the Indian travel and tourist market due to its high quality services, along with convenient flight connections and timings, he said.

Oman Air will be the first foreign airline to operate flights to this tourist city. The airline had earlier, on May 3, inaugurated its flights to Lucknow, a central Indian city.

Oman Air is currently operating direct international flights from Muscat to Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Bahrain, Doha, Kuwait, Cairo, Beirut and Amman in the Middle East. It also operates direct flights to destinations in India such as Mumbai, New Delhi, Kochi, Hyderabad, Thiruvananthapuram, Chennai, Lucknow and Jaipur in addition to Chittagong in Bangladesh.

Oman Air operates domestic flights linking Muscat with both Khasab and Salalah. In addition, the carrier operates code share frequencies to London, Frankfurt, Bangkok, Riyadh, Kuala Lumpur and Jeddah.
