New Delhi: State owned carrier, and domestic major, Indian, broke all previous records in Indian aviation last week Friday, by ferrying over 34,000 passengers on a single day for the first time.

The airline said that it carried as many as 34,535 passengers on Friday, the highest ever by an Indian carrier, as per official records on passenger load factor.

Friday's achievement is no flash in the pan for the carrier, though, as it has been consistently registering a high growth in passenger load factor during the past few months, an airline spokesman said.

It crossed the 32,000 mark on 15 occasions this year and broke the 33,000 mark on three occasions this year, before crossing the 34,000 mark on Friday, the spokesman said.
