Finance ministry wants BSNL, MTNL closed down: report

In the event of closure of the two state-run telcos, which together employs nearly 1,65,000 people, the finance ministry feels that the VRS payout of Rs29,182 crore can be reworked while also saving 4G spectrum cost of Rs20,410 crore and the Rs13,202 crore capex required to roll out the 4G services
