It is becoming clear that while paying lip service to the Anna Hazare-led anti-corruption movement sweeping the country, India's lawmakers are far from happy with the developments, and will go to some lengths to upset the 'team Anna' applecart.

Prashant BhushanLawyer Prashant Bhushan, a key member of team Anna, today said he has received a breach of privilege notice for his remarks against parliamentarians. He has been accused of using derogatory words about MPs, and has been asked to file a reply by 14 September.

Among other 'intemperate' remarks Bhushan had said that MPs take bribes to pass laws – something that particularly irked the lawmakers.

Terming the notice as "totally unjustified," he said, "If speaking truth in the public interest amounts to breach of privilege, then the time has come for the country to review the whole notion of parliamentary privileges."

Earlier this week, fellow activist and former high-profile policewoman Kiran Bedi too had received a breach of privilege notice for her remarks about parliamentarians. She had penetrated the thin skin of parliamentarians by saying MPs wear ''several masks'' at the same time (See: Team Anna rallies behind Kiran Bedi on privilege issue).

"Received breach of privilege. Shall respond appropriately recording the distrust 'we the people' are suffering," Bedi had subsequently tweeted.
