Deepak Sandhu becomes media adviser to prime minister

The government has appointed Deepak Sandhu, principal director general, Press Information Bureau as media adviser to the prime minister. She has been appointed on contractual and co-terminus basis at the level of secretary to the government of India.
An officer of the Indian Information Service (1971 Batch) Sandhu has been heading the Press Information Bureau since August 2005.
During her career she served as director general (News), All India Radio, additional director general and head of the DD News Channel, director of the Directorate of Film Festivals and as spokesperson for the ministries of finance, commerce and health and family welfare.
A Pearson Fellow, Sandhu has represented India at various international events.
She is married to Gurinder Singh Sandhu (IAS batch of 1967) and has a daughter.
