New Delhi: The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) is not for of cellular service providers blocking caller line identification (CLI), the TRAI Chairman, Mr Pradip Baijal, said yesterday.

"Even if the display of the calling party is blocked for some reason, the cellular operator concerned should know such numbers," Mr Baijal told newspersons on the sidelines of the ongoing Convergence India 2004 conference.

Certain operators have already stopped entertaining requests for blocking CLI to ensure security and privacy of their subscribers.
