DCM doyen Bharat Ram is no more
Mumbai:
Bharat Ram, chairman emeritus of DCM passed away on July 10. He was 93. Bharat Ram's younger brother, Charat Ram, died two months ago aged 89.

The DCM group, one of India's leading industrial groups for many years, was marked by a feud between the three sons of Lala Shriram the third being Murli Dhar -- and their families.

Born on the October 15, 1914 in Delhi, Bharat Ram was a graduate in economics from St Stephen's College.

Bharat Ram joined DCM in 1935 after graduation, as an apprentice and rose to the position of chairman and managing director in 1958. Bharat Ram retired in 1985 but stayed on as the chairman emeritus of DCM and SRF, and also the chairman of Coromandel Fertilizers.

The Sriram group ranked among the top 10 conglomerates in India and diversified beyond its traditional areas of textiles and sugar, into emerging sectors like chemicals, fertiliser, tyre cord, automobiles and electronics.

Air Deccan appoints new deputy COO
Bangalore:
Low cost carrier Air Deccan has appointed Nick White as deputy chief operating officer - technical.

According to a company release, White, who has over 30 years of experience in the aviation industry, will be responsible for maintaining fleet reliability, managing aircraft performance and supervising flight operations.

Srinivasan joins Aditya Birla group
Mumbai:
The Aditya Birla group has appointed former Prudential Corp head Ajay Srinivasan as chief executive for the conglomerate's financial services.

Srinivasan's appointment comes less than a week after group director financial services SK Mitra, 59, stepped down before his scheduled retirement in December, citing personal reasons. Srinivasan, 42 will join the group from July 16, is also expected to be appointed director corporate strategy and business development.

Srinivasan at 42 is the second youngest director after group's HR director Santrupt Mishra, who is 41-years old. Shailendra Jain, head of the group's pulp and staple fibre business, is the seniormost in age at 62 years.

Other members of Aditya Birla Management Corp include Sanjeev Aga (Idea Cellular MD), Debu Bhattacharya (Hindalco MD), Saurabh Mishra (UltraTech MD).

Gameshastra appoints K. Narayanan as head of operations in Hyderabad
Gameshastra has announced the appointment of K Narayanan as head operations for its India office. Naranayan will provide management direction at Gameshastra's India Operations and advise and implement integration opportunities globally.

Narayanan has more than 25 years of IT Industry experience, of which 15 years have been in various management roles. He has been associated with the growth of two organizations in their formative years - Hexaware Technologies (in India) and Emirates Airlines (in Dubai), and brings extensive experience in creating Centers of Excellence. In Hexaware he was head of travel and transportation and application management practices.

Narayanan holds a bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from Madurai Kamaraj University and diploma in computer management from University of Bombay.

Gameshastra has been involved in game testing and related services for over two years, and have successfully handled the testing of numerous games for leading publishers and development houses globally.
