New oil pipeline from the Caspian Sea begins operations
Baku:
Oil from the Caspian Sea to the Mediterranean has begun flowing after the opening of a new pipeline that bypasses the old pipelines laid and controlled by Russia.

Part of the $4 billion pipeline passes through Georgia, which has been rocked by years of instability.

The pipeline will pump over one million barrels per day of Azeri crude to the Turkish Mediterranean port of Ceyhan.
