Visas put a spike in travel, tourism industry
New Delhi: The decision of the British High Commission to temporary suspend issue of visas from New Delhi has come as a shock to the domestic travel and tourism industry. Also, reduced staff at certain foreign missions in New Delhi and Mumbai is affecting visa processing. This reduction in staff follows the 31 May 2002 travel advisory about the heightened tensions between India and Pakistan.
